Perimeter based security is no longer sufficient

81% of CIOs say traditional perimeter-based security approaches have become obsolete 

As business IT environments become more complex with applications running on multiple cloud hosting environments, work teams distributed at different levels, and access to core systems from practically any device, cyberattacks have also become more sophisticated.

For this reason, eight out of 10 global IT leaders agreed that perimeter based security is no longer sufficient for their business, according to the Global Poll: Impact of the 4th Industrial Revolution, commissioned by Lumen.

Application and data security are a priority. Nine in 10 global IT decision makers consider application and data security to be their main concern. In addition, they expect data security and connectivity to become more critical as a result of the current global pandemic: three in five say security will become much more important in the wake of COVID-19, and more than half say that about data connectivity.

Furthermore, seven out of 10 CIOs say that maintaining data security keeps them up at night especially when preparing for the 4th Industrial Revolution:
