by CIO AXIS

Software giant Salesforce has agreed to take over chat client Slack for $27.7 billion. Slack is a rival of Microsoft Teams.

Combining Slack with Customer 360 will be transformative for customers and the industry, says Salesforce. The combination will create the operating system for the new way to work, uniquely enabling companies to grow and succeed in the all-digital world.

“Together, Salesforce and Slack will shape the future of enterprise software and transform the way everyone works in the all-digital, work-from-anywhere world,” said Marc Benioff, Chair and CEO, Salesforce, in a release.

It is one of the largest acquisitions in the software sector in recent years, and Salesforce’s biggest purchase ever. Salesforce is focused on customer relationship software (CRM).
