Forcepoint names Matthew Moynahan as CEO

by CIO AXIS

Forcepoint announced that its board of directors has appointed Matthew P. Moynahan as chief executive officer.

Moynahan joins Forcepoint with more than 20 years of experience at some of the world’s leading security and information technology companies.  As Forcepoint’s new CEO, Moynahan will lead the company’s strategy to accelerate delivery of a unified, cloud-centric security platform to an expanding global customer base.

Thomas A. Kennedy, Forcepoint chairman of the board, and chairman and chief executive officer of Raytheon Company, commented on the appointment: “As we conclude our integration activity from last year’s Raytheon|Websense merger, Matt’s leadership will enable Forcepoint to deliver on that promise as the company enters its next phase of innovation and growth.”

“I am honored to join Forcepoint at this exciting point in the company’s history,” Moynahan said.

Moynahan is a seasoned executive with deep security expertise and a background in sales, product management and general management roles, as well as strong domain expertise in cloud services and security intelligence.  Since 1996 he has served in a series of increasingly senior roles at companies including Reciprocal, Symantec Corporation and Veracode, where he served as president and CEO.

Moynahan holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Williams College and a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School.  He currently serves on the board of directors of Care to Compete, a nonprofit supporting athletes with brain damage and chronic traumatic encephalopathy.
