ZyXEL Introduces New ZyWALL Series for SMBs

by CIO AXIS

ZyXEL Communications introduced its new ZyWALL Series which bring the fastest firewall and VPN performance to small and medium size businesses. To meet the needs for faster network performance, the new ZyWALL Series deliver up to 9x the firewall performance and 4.4x the VPN performance of the preceding models. Powered by multi-core CPUs, the new ZyWALL Series can deliver up to 3.6 Gbps firewall and 800 Mbps VPN throughputs.

The new ZyWALL Series features SHA-2 – one of the most advanced VPN encryption technologies available – to assure optimal connection safety. In order to deliver non-stop and reliable VPN service, the new ZyWALL Series also offer dual-WAN failover and fallback support; when the primary link fails, the ZyWALL VPN Firewall automatically switches to the backup connection. Likewise, when the primary connection is back online, it automatically switches back.

The new ZyWALL Series provide auto-provisioned client-to-site IPsec VPN setup. The simple zero configuration remote access mechanism is very user friendly and easy to operate. A wizard is available with the ZyXEL IPsec VPN client software that automatically retrieves the VPN configuration file from the remote ZyWALL VPN Firewall and completes the IPsec VPN setup in 3 simple steps.

To address the challenges of BYOD (Bring Your Own Device), the new ZyWALL devices offer unlimited business mobility with Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol (L2TP) VPN for mobile devices, running iOS, Android, and Windows mobile platforms.

  • The ZyWALL 110 offers SPI firewall throughputs of up to 1,000 Mbps, IPsec VPN throughputs of up to 300 Mbps, 60,000 concurrent NAT sessions, and 25 SSL VPN tunnels.
  • The ZyWALL 310 offers SPI firewall throughputs of up to 2,000 Mbps, IPsec VPN throughputs of up to 500 Mbps, 100,000 concurrent NAT sessions, and 50 SSL VPN tunnels.
  • The ZyWALL 1100 offers SPI firewall throughputs of up to 3,600 Mbps, IPsec VPN throughputs of up to 800 Mbps, 500,000 concurrent NAT sessions, and 250 SSL VPN tunnels.

VPN (Virtual Private Networks) provide a secure and convenient way to access company resources (such as servers, email, and data) for traveling employees, partners, and customers. Due to the globalization of business operation, company networks are expected to satisfy the demand for the remote access from branch offices, chain stores, and mobile employees.
